What Therapy at Calma Looks Like
Virtual, one-on-one therapy offered in English and Spanish that is collaborative, trauma-informed, and focused on emotional balance and practical support.
Our sessions are structured but conversational. Evidence-based but deeply personal. Focused on helping you understand your patterns while building tools you can use outside the therapy room.
This is steady, meaningful work that meets you where you are.

Calma is a California-based virtual therapy practice offering care in English and Spanish for women who carry a lot. Women who are high-functioning on the outside but internally overwhelmed. Women navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship stress, identity shifts, and major life transitions.
We offer thoughtful, culturally informed therapy that honors both your lived experience and the research that informs effective care.
We offer thoughtful therapy that honors both your lived experience and the research that informs effective care.
-
Our work is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based modalities, including trauma-informed and relational frameworks.
We believe healing is not confined to the therapy hour. It unfolds in daily life, in conversations, in boundaries, in moments of pause. That is why our approach integrates practical tools for emotional regulation, boundary setting, and nervous system support.
Many of these reflections and practices are also shared through Calma Wellness as a resource for continued growth outside of sessions. Therapy remains the core of our work, while Wellness offers thoughtful perspectives and tools to support the process.
Therapy here is steady, attuned, and intentional.

We primarily work with women who:
Experience anxiety or chronic overthinking
Feel burned out from being the strong one
Struggle with boundaries or people-pleasing
Are navigating life transitions or relationship challenges
Want therapy that feels culturally aware and emotionally safe
You do not have to be in crisis to begin. You just have to be ready for something to feel different.
Our Services
Individual Therapy
Virtual, one-on-one therapy for women seeking support with anxiety, burnout, boundaries, and life transitions, offered in English and Spanish. Sessions are tailored to your goals and grounded in evidence-based care, with space for both deep processing and practical skill-building.
Trauma-Informed & Relational Therapy
A thoughtful, research-informed approach that considers your history, attachment patterns, and nervous system responses. Together, we work to understand where your patterns come from and build new ways of relating to yourself and others.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Healing continues outside of session time. Through Calma Wellness, Annie shares reflections, journal prompts, and research-informed practices that support emotional awareness and regulation in everyday life. This space is not therapy, but a thoughtful extension of the work, offering perspective and tools you can return to between sessions or whenever you need grounding.
Meet the Therapist
Hi, I’m Annie, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California and the founder of Calma. I offer therapy in both English and Spanish.
I created Calma to be a place where therapy feels steady, thoughtful, and deeply human. A space where high-functioning women can step out of survival mode and into something more regulated and intentional.
I’ve spent over a decade working across mental health settings. My work is shaped by both clinical training and lived experience as the eldest daughter in a Hispanic family, where I learned early how to anticipate needs and hold things together.
Today, I help women navigate anxiety, burnout, boundaries, and relationship challenges through evidence-based therapy that also honors the realities of daily life. I believe therapy should feel culturally attuned, collaborative, and free of shame.
My goal isn’t just symptom relief. It’s helping you build a life that feels more livable, grounded, and aligned.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Therapy can be supportive during periods of change, stress, or emotional overwhelm, even if nothing feels “wrong.” It offers a dedicated space to slow down, reflect, and gain insight as you navigate life.
People seek therapy for many reasons — life transitions, relationship changes, burnout, shifting roles, or simply wanting support during seasons that feel both meaningful and overwhelming.
You don’t have to wait for a breaking point to ask for support.
-
The first session is a time to get oriented, talk about what brings you to therapy, and begin co-creating goals together. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out. This is a supportive space to meet you where you are.
-
Just yourself. A private, quiet space for your session is helpful. If you’d like, you can bring questions or notes, but there’s no requirement to prepare ahead of time.
-
Therapy at Calma is integrative and individualized. Rather than using a one size fits all approach, sessions are tailored to your needs, goals, and lived experiences.
My work is informed by evidence based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), DBT informed skills, attachment based and relational work, mindfulness based practices, and trauma informed care. Therapy is also culturally responsive and attentive to the ways identity, background, and life context shape your experience.
The focus is always on meeting you where you are and adjusting the approach as you grow.
